ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD

The ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm received the dpreview "Highly recommended" award

"Indeed the Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 SWD is quite simply a superb lens, which can lay claim to being one of the very best standard zooms currently available. This is a design which would have been almost unimaginable even five years ago; a 5x wideangle to telephoto zoom which, though the use of some exotic optics, manages to perform almost flawlessly across its entire range, and throws in some impressive macro performance too."

Olympus E-510 wins EISA Award

With its winning combination of cutting-edge technology, exceptional image quality and superb ergonomic handling, the Olympus E-510 has secured the prestigious EISA  “European Consumer Camera 2007-2008” Award. The innovative D-SLR, which is based on the Four Thirds System, boasts Live View capabilities for the optimal framing of compositions and also features a built-in image stabiliser that ensures shots come out blur-free – no matter which lens is being used. Like all cameras from the impressive Olympus E-System, the professionally-designed 10.0 Megapixel E-510 also incorporates the unique Olympus Supersonic Wave Filter to provide the ultimate protection against the effects of dust.

Commenting on their decision to bestow the camera with the award, the EISA jury explained that: “The Olympus E-510 is a digital SLR with excellent image quality and some clear advantages over the rest of the market.” Handling was cited as another winning feature: “The camera is compact and light, but with its large handgrip it is comfortable to hold.” Naturally, the innovative technology incorporated in the E-510 had not escaped EISA’s attention. Here they said that the camera’s “anti-dust and image stabilisation systems are both invaluable benefits for the amateur photographer.”

µ 770 SW

TIPA Award for Olympus µ 770 SW:
Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007

With the µ 770 SW, Olympus has taken its “rough’n’tough” camera concept a step further to overwhelming critical acclaim. TIPA had no trouble finding arguments to support its decision to give this model the Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007 Award, citing that it “succeeds in combining a heavy-duty body with an elegant design. But the all-metal finish isn’t merely cosmetic – it can withstand loads of up to 100kg, can be submerged to a depth of 10 metres, can survive falls up to 1.5 metres and still keep shooting at a temperature of -10°C!” The jury continued its accolades, saying: “With its stylish casing and all-round good looks, the µ 770 SW is as happy in a designer handbag just as much as it is in an outdoor photographer’s camera bag. An entirely unique design, it offers a great range of features beyond its rugged build, including a 3x zoom lens (38-114mm equivalent), a 7 Megapixel sensor, and Olympus’ excellent BrightCapture Technology, which allows sharp, high-quality images to be taken in low-light conditions.”

E-330

Best Imaging Innovation: Olympus E-330

The E-330 with Live Preview capability has been awarded the TIPA “Best Imaging Innovation” prize in Europe for 2006. The Live Preview function has set a new standard in digital SLR photography by combining, for the first time, the convenience of a digital compact camera with the high-quality standards of a digital SLR. Eliminating the need to look through the ocular, continuous live views on the tilting, multi-angle, 6.4 cm large LCD not only offer users the advantage of knowing what’s going on around them while they shoot. They also greatly extend shooting flexibility – no matter if taking shots with interesting perspectives from unusual positions or even capturing scenes of marine life from below the water’s surface with the camera protected in a specially-available underwater case. Naturally, the E-330 also impresses in terms of picture quality, featuring a new-generation image sensor with 7.5 million pixels for stunningly sharp results.

µ-mini DIGITAL

DIWA awards silver to µ-mini Digital
With a DIWA Design Award already to its name, the µ-mini DIGITAL now also receives a Silver Award for its high performance. Its good, 4.0 million pixel image quality, impressive lens performance as well as easy-to-use controls and bright 1.8” LCD monitor won the DIWA judges over. Particularly praised was the camera’s weatherproof exterior, which was considered to give the µ-mini DIGITAL a decisive advantage for active users who want to take their camera along in environments normally considered unsuitable for a camera – such as on the beach, in a boat or on the ski slopes.
