Unlike others’ systems, the Olympus online firmware update service is highly-automated. It checks the firmware used. If necessary, the latest version can be automatically downloaded and installed.
The whole process is very easy and just takes a few minutes. You can get back to work immediately with an enhanced system. All you need is 
OLYMPUS Master Software or
OLYMPUS Viewer 1.1 Software (or later) or
OLYMPUS Studio 1.1 Software (or later)
and an Internet connection.

How to download the new firmware:

1. Connect the camera to a Mac or Windows computer*

2. Check your current software version of Olympus Master, Olympus Viewer or Olympus Studio.

3. In case it is ver. 1.0, please update to the latest version.

4. Log into the internet.

5. Start the "Software Update" function in the "Help" menu in Olympus Master, Olympus Viewer or Olympus Studio. (Please see Software Update).

6. After your successful update of the software click again "Help" and select "Firmware Update"



This initiates a check of the firmware in the camera body and any connected lens and flash. If necessary, the latest version can be automatically downloaded and installed.

* Compatible with Windows OS: 98SE, 2000, XP and Mac OS: 9.1-9.2.2, 10.1.3-10.3.
