Slim-figured and catching the eye with its distinctive twisting lens design, the FE-5500 from Olympus comprises a great option for those after an ultra-compact camera to take with them everywhere. Photos will come out razor-sharp thanks to a resolution of 5.0 million pixels. A precision 3x zoom lens lets subjects be brought in from afar. Maximum magnification can even be increased up to 12x with the help of the digital zoom. Thanks to a variety of scene programmes, such as for capturing sports, indoor or landscape scenes, shooting becomes a cinch. Results are viewable on the large 5.1cm LCD monitor.

As well as an attractive price, this new-look camera in the Olympus range offers style, mobility and high photographic performance. The special twisting lens provides its unmistakable appearance, and being just 24.3mm thin and extremely light, you will hardly even notice carrying it. FE-5500 owners also will be able to rest assured regarding the quality of their shots. 5.0 million pixels and a first-class 3x zoom lens system (equivalent to 35-105mm) give images what they need to really come to life. Various shooting modes including scene programmes, movie recording with sound and Super Macro, ensure ease and versatility for diverse photographic needs.

Images and movies can be reviewed and presented on the 5.1cm colour LCD monitor and are saved in the 14MB internal memory. Naturally, for greater storage requirements, a slot for xD-Picture Cards is provided. Currently, cards of up to 1GB are available. Use of xD-Picture Cards from Olympus lets photographers enjoy the added benefit of panorama shooting functionality. And printing results couldn’t be easier. Adhering to the PictBridge standard means images can be printed directly on any compatible printer – such as the Olympus P-10 – without the need for a PC.

The slim and affordable 5.0 million pixel FE-5500 will be available from May 2005. It comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and charger, USB cable, AV cable and the easy-to-use Olympus Master 1.2 software for managing and editing images on the computer, as standard.
