Making digital photography easier, more stylish and versatile

The Easy Imaging System, which introduced a fresh, new approach to shooting, printing, archiving and sharing digital photos without using a PC, has just been expanded. A second digital camera as well as a DVD recorder join the system line-up. With the IR-300, photographers with an eye for pure, minimalist design now also have the choice of an extremely compact 5.0 million pixel camera to complement their other system components. Its 3x zoom lens is positioned distinctively at its centre. On the rear, results can easily be checked and presented using the 5.1cm Sunshine LCD monitor. Meanwhile, with its graceful contours and slim-line design, the new S-DVD-100 DVD recorder impresses with its style and functionality. It provides fast, hassle-free data recording and is the ideal Easy Imaging System component to facilitate the sharing of images with friends and family as well as secure long-term archiving.

With its minimalist design, compact size and top performance, the IR-300 makes a great impact. 5.0 million pixels draw out even the smallest image details for incredibly high-definition shots. The combination of a 3x optical (38-114mm on 35mm camera) and 4x digital zoom provide this model with plenty of shooting flexibility and enable 12x total magnification. Users can choose from scene programmes to make child’s play of most photographic situations. From Fireworks, Beach & Snow to Portrait – 17 options really assist image capture. Additional features such as Super Macro shooting from as close as 5cm and movie recording with sound (including a digital image stabiliser to prevent erratic video images), add to the broad versatility of the IR-300.

Various editing functions, including Resize and Reduce Red Eyes, can be carried out directly on the camera to enhance the shots. A 5.1cm Sunshine LCD monitor is on hand for the comfortable viewing of results – even in bright sunlight. The docking station not only acts as the battery charging unit but is ideal for use as a great camera stand too. Of course, it is also the key to the integration that allows the PC-free printing and archiving plus connection to the other Easy Imaging System components. For example, when in the docking station, even the images stored on the hard drive can be viewed on the camera’s integrated LCD monitor.

The new DVD recorder S-DVD-100 takes the hassle out of creating DVDs and CDs containing your photos. Whether to share with others or for archiving purposes, the recorder makes fast work of burning virtually all types of DVDs or CDs (at 8x and 24x recording speeds respectively). As with all Easy Imaging System components, the concept of minimalist design and easy, PC-free operation is also woven into the fabric of this DVD recorder. To burn, users simply dock a camera from the system to the unit and it’s virtually done. Furthermore, due to USB 2.0 Hi-Speed support, the recorder may also be easily connected to a PC and thereby functions as a stylish external DVD drive too.

Besides the new camera and DVD recorder, the Easy Imaging System comprises: the 4.0 million pixel IR-500 camera with 360° rotating Sunshine LCD, the P-S100 dye-sublimation printer and S-HD-100 hard disk drive with 40GB capacity – enough to hold more than 30,000 images in five million pixel resolution. Working together in perfect harmony, the system provides all that is needed for the effortless shooting, printing, archiving and sharing of photos without the need for a PC.

The latest camera in the Easy Imaging System, the Olympus IR-300 and the DVD recorder S-DVD-100 are planned for release in spring 2005.
