Olympus Special Advisor Masatoshi Kishimoto receives High Honour from Germany
Olympus Corporation is proud to announce that its Special Advisor Masatoshi Kishimoto has been awarded The Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit by the Federal Republic of Germany.
This honour was instituted in 1951 and is awarded by the Federal Republic of Germany in recognition of significant contributions to the nation in any field. Mr. Kishimoto received the award for his role in the development of Olympus Europe (Hamburg, Germany), a subsidiary of Olympus Corporation, as the Olympus Group’s European headquarters, and for his contributions to the creation of employment, the establishment of the Olympus Europe Science for Life Foundation, and the expansion of research cooperation between Japan and Germany.
During his long career with the company Mr Kishimoto has had many high-profile assignments not only in Japan, but also in Europe and the U.S.A. In 1964 he was given his first post in Hamburg and then later in 1975 he was appointed Executive Managing Director of Olympus Europa GmbH. Returning to Tokyo in 1982 where he spent two years he then became Corporate President of Olympus America Inc. in 1984. From 1993 to 2001 he was President of the Olympus Corporation in Tokyo after which he became Chairman until June 2005. He currently works as Special Advisor.
