Caring for a better environment
Ecological thinking is an integral part of our business practice and Olympus is keenly committed to ensuring that our technology and business activities are in harmony with the environment. Our Eco-Product range, for example, minimises energy use during manufacturing and makes use of a wide range of recycled materials in construction. The product must have a long lifespan and at the end can easily be broken down and reused as far as possible. Furthermore, the amount of packaging is reduced to a bare minimum and comprised of recyclable materials.
It is said that: “Often, the only thing separating us from a better world is a good idea.” This adage naturally also holds true for environmental issues. New good ideas in the production technology of endoscopes in our Hamburg plant have, for example, allowed significant energy savings to be made. And at our production plant in Shannon, Ireland, the energy provider uses only renewable sources. These are just two more instances where Olympus is taking active steps to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and thereby protect the environment.
Through the Environmental Awareness Month, Olympus highlights a range of initiates that will ultimately make a real difference for our collective quality of life and the very future of our planet.
