ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD
ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD (24-120mm)* lens wins TIPA Award From extreme wide angles to tele shots, the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD (24-120mm)* lens has all bases covered. On top of powerful 5x zoom performance, the TIPA jury noted that: “With its fast aperture of 1:2.8-4.0, it’s suitable for use in all lighting conditions”. The lens’ rugged dust and splashproof build along with the inclusion of SWD technology – enabling the world’s fastest autofocusing speeds** – were further winning arguments cited by TIPA in choosing to bestow it with the “Best Expert Lens 2008” award. The judges concluded that the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD (24-120mm)* lens represented “a very attractive option for all Four Thirds users”.
* Figure in brackets represents 35mm camera equivalent. ** When used in combination with the Olympus E-3, as of October 2007.

E-3 receives DIWA Gold Award
The DIWA jury was won over by the E-3’s unbeatable combination of features, including “the world’s fastest autofocus (with SWD lenses), Live View in combination with a multi-angle monitor, 10MP image resolution and a built-in sensor shift image stabiliser.” Continuing the accolades, the judges noted that: “Excellent handling and ergonomics, high image quality, and compatibility to the outstanding range of powerful, yet compact range of ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses, have been highly appreciated in numerous DIWA tests, qualifying the Olympus E-3 for a DIWA Gold Award.”
This latest Olympus E-System camera is the long-awaited successor to the pioneering Four Thirds System-based Olympus E-1. Built for the specific demands of digital SLR photography, the E-3 accepts no compromises to deliver highest-quality results for professional photographers. Summing up, DIWA test manager Kai Thon remarked that the E-3 was certainly “well worth the wait.”

Olympus E-3 wins Pixelmania Award
The E-3 scored big with the Dutch digital photography website Pixelmania.nl. The newest professional D-SLR from Olympus took home the site’s Pixelmania Award, presented to the highest scorers in its consumer tests. In their report, testers noted that “...the E-3 really taps the full potential of the amazing Top Pro Zuiko lenses”. They were especially impressed by the image quality of the sample shots, calling them the best they had seen so far. The Dutch experts also compared the E-3’s colour rendition chart at ISO 3200 to that of the Canon 40D, concluding that even at high ISOs the E-3 exhibits just as little image noise as the 40D. See the full report (in Dutch) including sample pictures here.

Olympus E-510 wins EISA Award
With its winning combination of cutting-edge technology, exceptional image quality and superb ergonomic handling, the Olympus E-510 has secured the prestigious EISA “European Consumer Camera 2007-2008” Award. The innovative D-SLR, which is based on the Four Thirds System, boasts Live View capabilities for the optimal framing of compositions and also features a built-in image stabiliser that ensures shots come out blur-free – no matter which lens is being used. Like all cameras from the impressive Olympus E-System, the professionally-designed 10.0 Megapixel E-510 also incorporates the unique Olympus Supersonic Wave Filter to provide the ultimate protection against the effects of dust.
Commenting on their decision to bestow the camera with the award, the EISA jury explained that: “The Olympus E-510 is a digital SLR with excellent image quality and some clear advantages over the rest of the market.” Handling was cited as another winning feature: “The camera is compact and light, but with its large handgrip it is comfortable to hold.” Naturally, the innovative technology incorporated in the E-510 had not escaped EISA’s attention. Here they said that the camera’s “anti-dust and image stabilisation systems are both invaluable benefits for the amateur photographer.”
EISA (European Imaging & Sound Association) is comprised of around 50 prominent magazines in the areas of audio, video, home theatre, mobile electronics and photography from 20 European countries. Each year it honours the best newly-released products in recognition of their features, quality and general appeal to users.

µ 770 SW
TIPA Award for Olympus µ 770 SW: Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007
With the µ 770 SW, Olympus has taken its “rough’n’tough” camera concept a step further to overwhelming critical acclaim. TIPA had no trouble finding arguments to support its decision to give this model the Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007 Award, citing that it “succeeds in combining a heavy-duty body with an elegant design. But the all-metal finish isn’t merely cosmetic – it can withstand loads of up to 100kg, can be submerged to a depth of 10 metres, can survive falls up to 1.5 metres and still keep shooting at a temperature of -10°C!” The jury continued its accolades, saying: “With its stylish casing and all-round good looks, the µ 770 SW is as happy in a designer handbag just as much as it is in an outdoor photographer’s camera bag. An entirely unique design, it offers a great range of features beyond its rugged build, including a 3x zoom lens (38-114mm equivalent), a 7 Megapixel sensor, and Olympus’ excellent BrightCapture Technology, which allows sharp, high-quality images to be taken in low-light conditions.”
