The Felix Burda Foundation was established by Christa Maar and Hubert Burda and carries the name of their son Felix Burda who died of colon cancer in 2001 at the age of 33. Purpose of the Foundation is to create maximal public awareness for colorectal cancer, especially for the high benefits of its early detection.

By the use of national communication campaigns the Felix Burda Foundation informs and motivates people to colorectal cancer prevention. Since 2003 the Foundation annually honours people, institutions as well as companies for outstanding commitment in the field of colon cancer prevention with the Felix Burda Award.
