Colorectal cancer is a cancer that occurs in the colon or rectum. It is the second major cause of cancer associated deaths in Europe with a mortality of close to 200.000 per year.
Despite its high incidence (around 360.000 new cases per year), colorectal cancer is one of the most detectable and, if diagnosed early, most treatable forms of cancer.

Colon Cancer can develop from polyps. Its symptoms are not necessarily obvious. The risk of colon cancer increases with age. Unlike most types of cancer it can be prevented almost totally.

Colorectal cancer screening saves lives. Screening tests can find polyps before they become cancerous, so that they can be removed in time. Even if screening catches cancer in an early stage, colon cancer can be cured.
