IX2-ARCEVA - illumination module The IX2-ARCEVA was the world’s first Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (TIRFM) solution with evanescent illumination from an arc lamp source. The slit mechanism developed by Olympus provides white-light evanescent wave illumination for high signal-to-noise fluorescence observations of extraordinary thin optical sections at the specimen-coverslip interface. This solution for microscopes of the IX2 range enables a wider choice of excitation colours compared to TIRFM systems based on single wavelength laser light sources which in turn are more sensitive.
