BX61WI

Motorised fixed stage microscope

The BX61WI is the motorised version of the BX51WI fixed-stage microscope with a highly accurate Z-drive. It is the ideal tool for all automated physiological experiments, such as patch clamping and intravital microscopy. The fixed-stage concept and vibration-free frame design ensure excellent stability throughout the experiment. The use of infrared light protects living cells and offers high penetration depths of thick tissue slices, while high NA optics allow magnification changes without moving the objective.

A new concept in vibration-free design

Olympus WI microscopes minimise user-induced vibrations. All operational controls are located far from the specimen. Special swing and swing/slide nosepieces facilitate gentle movement of objectives, and the adjustable click-stop of the fluorescence turret and vibration-free shutter further prevent concussion. The unique XLUMPFL 20x objective combined with an intermediate magnification changer enables the selection of magnifications without changing the objective.

Infrared contrast

The use of infrared light rather than white light for specimen illumination protects living cells and offers higher penetration depths of thick tissue slices. The oblique illumination condenser in combination with IR illumination offers a simple and cost-effective method of IR contrast in plastic vessels. IR-DIC equipment for 750 nm and 900 nm illumination is the perfect choice for contrast without compromise.

Fluorescence

Olympus fluorescence illumination combined with Olympus high-definition ion-coated filters produce the highest signal-to-noise performance. The UIS2 fluorescence filters incorporate perfect wavelength accuracy, edge steepness and low autofluorescence for the best possible results.

Fluorescence macro observation

Interactions between cells can span long distances. A prerequisite for the observation of these phenomena are low-magnification objectives with high numerical apertures. The XFLUOR2x/340 and XFLUOR4x/340 objectives offer not only high NA but also high transmission in UV making them especially suitable for the observation of UV-excitable fluorochromes.

Modular motorisation

The BX61WI has an integrated motorised high-precision Z-drive and programmable frame keys. Motorised modules include a fluorescence condenser with integrated shutter, filterwheels for illumination and observation light paths and stages. All of these are controlled by a convenient hand switch or by Olympus imaging software. A remote focus control is available with programmable keys and Z-drive switch off function, avoiding electronic noise in measurements.
