Expect more than gray theory
Academic knowledge meets practical application — a powerful combination that will take you and us further. That's why we now offer three different ways for students to get to know Olympus and develop the own career: you can do an internship here, take a position as a working student, or complete your dissertation at Olympus.
Regardless of the path you choose, our unique corporate culture and the international orientation of Olympus will inspire you. Alongside fulfilling the tasks specific to your role, you will be a perfect fit for us if you like taking on responsibility, working with international colleagues, and contributing your own ideas to the business.
It's also good to know that karriere.de (a portal operated by Germany’s Handelsblatt newspaper and Wirtschaftswoche news magazine) has recognized Olympus as a “Fair Company”. At Olympus, interns and working students not only provide valuable support in everyday working life: we regard helping young people in their professional and personal development and preparing them for their career entry as an essential component of all junior staff development programs.
Expect to take on responsibility at an early stage
In your internship you can expand the theory you learn during your studies with the practical experience you gain in an international environment. With the support of a dedicated mentor, you will take responsibility for your own projects from the very start. This ensures that you continue to develop both personally and professionally.
On your first day, you will be welcomed and given useful information about starting at Olympus as part of an orientation day. Monthly “intern forums” will ensure that you find out more about other divisions of the company, become familiar with our diverse product portfolio, and will allow you to network with other interns. Eating lunch together in the canteen and the get-togethers we organize outside work will help you to settle in quickly — these offer a fantastic opportunity to socialize for interns who are new to Hamburg.
For us, it goes without saying that all interns at Olympus receive appropriate monthly remuneration, as well as a public transport ticket.
What you need to bring along for an internship at Olympus:
- You are enrolled at a university or are taking a gap year between your Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
- You are available for a minimum of three months; preferably six.
- You have a good standard of English.
- Initial practical experience is advantageous but not essential.
Take a look at our available internships. We look forward to your application.
Expect support from the professionals during your academic finals
There are two options for writing a Bachelor's or Master's thesis at Olympus:
- You will have either already been an intern here or are currently one of our working students. You already have an appropriate topic and a supervisor.
- You make a direct application for an advertised topic.
Whichever route you choose, you will receive advice and support from the department involved. Your supervisor is there to advise you on any issues and to answer any questions that arise. And who knows: maybe this collaboration will lead to something more than a dissertation — we'd appreciate it.
Expect more than just a student job
When you work for us as a student, you'll get involved in projects and day-to-day work from the very start. You will gain an insight into the world of Olympus, as well as valuable working experience for the future and regular feedback from your departmental supervisor. We also ensure that you can meet and socialize with other students, at our orientation day, our shared lunches, and our evening get-togethers, for example.
What you need to bring along for a working student position at Olympus:
- You are enrolled at a university and have at least one semester left before you graduate.
- You'd like to work with us for up to 20 hours per week.
- You have a good standard of English.
