Olympus, a global technology leader for medical systems, scientific solutions and digital cameras, purchases a 25,500m² site to expand its repair service activities in Coimbra. Following the start of endoscope repairs in April 2017, Olympus is now planning to further expand the area with a new building to accommodate the steady growth.

Managing Director Olympus Iberia, Emili Ripolles, and Christoph Wittler, Director Medical Repair Service, signed a contract with the iParque – Parque para a Inovação em Ciência, Tecnologia e Saúda, E.M, S. A in Coimbra to purchase a site near the existing repair service center of Olympus in Portugal. Construction work to expand the service areas in Coimbra will begin there later this year. Olympus Service Facility Portugal currently employs 137 employees. With this expansion, Olympus plans to create a significant number of new jobs in the next five years.

In addition to the volume of repairs, the new building will also meet the highest regulatory requirements for the hygienic preparation of demo and rental equipment.

Olympus Service Facility Portugal (OSFP) was founded 2002 as a subsidiary of the Olympus Group. With a total floor area of 4,130m² it is the largest repair center for optical and digital equipment within the Olympus Group and one of the largest in Europe.
