This shot of a group of Platax Teira was taken from a distance. The entire screen has a whitish hue and the image is not clear.

Set the underwater mode to Underwater Wide Mode and take pictures.
With the OLYMPUS Underwater Mode, all you have to do is to just point the camera and press the shutter button. Colourful underwater photographs become easier to capture for everyone. The camera is automatically set to optimal white balance, exposure compensation and flash compensation settings according to the current mode. With the power zoom feature (M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm F3.5-6.3 EZ and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ), the lens focal length is automatically adjusted according to the selected underwater mode. In the underwater wide mode, the telephoto end is automatically selected. For other lenses, operate the zoom dial and set to the widest angle.
While underwater, light from flash doesn’t travel distances very well, so it is necessary to get close enough to your subject when photographing.

When taking underwater macro photos, approach subjects even more carefully than usual. If you rush and do not approach carefully, the subject may run away. Also if you disturb the sand, the image can become very unclear. When photographing subjects from afar, the flash can emit too much light which then reflects off floating objects in the water, making the image appear washed out, and dull. With the power zoom feature (M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm F3.5-6.3 EZ and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ), the lens is automatically set to telephoto. For other lenses, operate the zoom dial and set to telephoto.
